Modern everyday life is based on the use of chemicals - but how much do we know about what happens to them once they have fulfilled our needs? How safe are those chemicals in the environment, and what steps are being taken to reduce potentially harmful pollution? Martin Rose is the Principal Scientist in the Department of Food Health at the Central Science Laboratory, Sand Hutton, very much involved in all these important challenges.
