Folk music is ever evolving. Traditional songs, reels and jigs are complemented by contemporary songs written by each new generation, but all share a common purpose - they tell a story through the medium of prose and music and record a past aspect of human life for future audiences to understand.

The genre attracts many types of musicians. Classically trained concert violinists like James Lavan play alongside less formally trained artists, breaking down the barriers between generations and diverse musical taste.

We were invited to Suddaby's on the third night of their winter beer festival to meet 'DIAD', who perform a mix of traditional Irish music alongside their own songs.
Essentially a duo, Diad is supplemented by additional musicians as the performance dictates.

Diad are -
DAMIAN FYNES - Guitar/Vocals.
FRANK PALLISTER - Banjo/Fiddle/Mandolin.
Supplemented by -
CHRIS BARNES - Guitar.
DAVE WRIGHT - Squeezebox.

Produced by Mike Cooke.
